Make Your Travel Arrangements Into A Convenient Task

Saturday, September 26th, 2009

There are many of us who feel the need to travel very often . This could be owing to professional requirements or maybe because of the fact that the individual harbors profound love towards traveling. Whatever be the reason, all of us have at some point or the other have had to travel. Though thought to be a fun task which has the potential of making us feel relaxed and provide us with a change, there are many of us who clearly hate the thought of traveling. A major reason for the same is the planning involved towards travelling. If not catered properly this aspect has all the potential of practically ruining your travel! But let not this be the reason for a bad trip.

There are many things that you can keep in mind to see that your travel is nothing more than a comfortable trip! The most common problem with most of us concerns to our bookings. If you are to book your travel tickets and hotel reservations on your own then it would be a good suggestion to do it well in advance. The best tool here to help you out is the internet. Not only does it allow you to check all available options pertaining to the flights as well as the hotels but also gives you the opportunity to compare the rates. You can very easily get help on similar travel topics like Holiday.

Once you get to know of a good deal go ahead and do the bookings. Also check on the means that you would be considering in order to reach your hotel from the airport. If possible go ahead and book a taxi before hand. Take printouts of all these reservation confirmations and keep it along with your passport at one place to make sure that you do not forget them. This is the last thing that you want wherein you are at the airport without your tickets!

Plan Your Holiday Smoothly And Efficiently

Travelling and packing seems to come together in our mind when we think of the former . Though not a big deal but for some of us packing is a seriously big issue to tackle . It is very often seen that many people tend to over pack and therefore have to fight with multiple pieces of luggage at the airport. It is always recommended that one should travel light. It might sound tough but it really is not! While packing your clothes and other items you just have to ask yourself one simple question- will I be needing it there? If ‘no’ pops in your head immediately then there is no point in keeping that item in your luggage ! With packing the mantra which always wins is that of mis and match. You should generally be keeping in a few set of clothes which provide you the liberty to combine them with each other and the result would be a brand new outfit every time! This works ideally when you are going on a vacation . Clothes which you do take along should be usable .

A few pair of shoes in neutral colours can be matched with all of these dresses and it is the best item. You could carry a cocktail dress to help you if the need arises. Keep a few small accessories which are very competent to help give your dress a brand new look. These simple tips when kept in mind during packing can make the entire exercise not at all a taxing one! For other similar tips on Holiday feel free to browse through our website.

Why Spiritual Holidays Are More Important Now

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

These are very stressful times for all of us. Most of us have never experienced anything in our lives that even comes close to the fear and uncertainty that surrounds us these days. We are worried if we will have a job next week; if we will be able to keep a roof over our heads and put food on the table. All we hear from the media is how bad things are and that its likely to get worse. Who wouldnt be stressed?

Stress feels uncomfortable and is painful. Our natural instinct is to avoid anything that is painful. We run away from the pain as fast as we can. In the case of stress, we frequently turn to drugs or alcohol for relief. Escape also comes in the form of a vacation.

Yes, a vacation… thats what I need; a chance to get away from lifes stresses; to escape. We think, That way I can come home refreshed and ready to deal with lifes stresses with renewed vigor. A typical vacation can be a big help in dealing with stress. We get a chance to leave the worries behind us for a week or two, but do we really?

Unfortunately, a lot of our “vacation time” is wasted. The beginning of the vacation is spent “getting into vacation” mode. The end of the vacation is spent worrying about going home and all the stuff that is waiting for us to do when we get home. In the middle of the vacation, we do get a chance to relax a little.

When the vacation is over, we have to go back to all the stresses we left at home. We likely did not learn anything while on vacation to help us deal with the stresses of daily life. A typical gay vacation is only a quick and very temporary fix, like a drug. This is why Spirit Journeys is more important now in these stressful times.

Our personal experience has shown us that conscious gay travel with Spirit Journeys can be a life changing event. The introduction to new ways of thinking, the learning and practicing of techniques to handle stress or the building of a support network of friends, can all help us be less affected by lifes ups and downs; to be more confident as we move through our lives.

Also, at a Spirit Journeys event we get to meet and connect with people at a level simply not possible on an ordinary gay vacation. We are given the chance to learn new things and hear new ideas from the others in the group. The connections made on a Spirit Journey add immensely to the enjoyment of our time away. To be able to sit and have a real conversation with someone; for us to be listened to with genuine interest; for us to listen to others with our heart; the importance of these things cannot be measured and bring a deep sense of fulfillment. Yes, there is effort involved. We can’t just hide in our rooms. We will want to be “present”; we will want to be willing; we will want to be as open and honest as we can be.

But the effort we put out has unimaginable rewards. We know in our hearts that this kind of effort has the power to change us, and change us deeply. These kind of changes to our “way of being” in the world, can make everday feel like we’re on a vacation.

Things You Must Do While In Del Mar California

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

The beach town of Del Mar California is one of the most beautiful destinations along the SoCal coast of the Pacific Ocean. Situated on the northern edge of the city of San Diego, Del Mar is a quaint historical village that serves as a backdrop to a seaside resort where Hollywood stars Bing Crosby and Jimmy Durante built a horse race track in the 1930s.

1. The Place To Be Is Epazote

Del Mar’s downtown area has a definite European flavor. More than seventy unique shops, cute hotels and 23 restaurants offer enough variety to please everybody. The artsy “Italian” outdoor mall, Del Mar Plaza, is at the north end of town at the corner of Highway 101 and 15th Street, where you will find trendy shops and unique bistros among the ironwork and tiled fountains of an Italian piazza.

The plaza is the home of Epazote, a local restaurant favorite. It’s a wonderful place for lunch or end of the day cocktails because it has an outdoor patio that swells with sunshine, sea breezes and enchanting panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. It’s also one of Del Mar’s favorite nightlife destinations with a contemporary, upscale vibe. Sleek and sophisticated, with a 180-degree views of the Pacific, hip bar and a cutting edge ocean view lounge, Epazote is a great day or night experience. Oh, and did I mention the food? All of it is creative, unique and wonderful.

2. Hike Through Abstract Red Rock Canyons

If you enjoy a nature hike with phenomenal scenery, Torrey Pines State Reserve is for you, with nearly 2000 acres of natural habitat along the ocean. The reserve was created because this is where the rare and beautiful Torrey Pine tree grows. You will find 6 or 7 trails for hiking, each with it’s own brand of awesome views: wind bent Torrey pines, abstract rock formations and lush wildflower displays, all framed by the magnificent Pacific Ocean. Parking Tip: You can park outside the park along the ocean and Highway 101 for free, then walk up the drive into the reserve for a great workout with magnificent views. Take your camera - especially in the spring when fields of wild flowers are in bloom and everywhere you look are fantastic views of the ocean.

3. Come Sail Away In Your Beautiful Balloon

Every evening we see them from Encinitas - hot air balloons, specs in the distance, soaring through the sky just before sunset after taking off from Del Mar. We have been “up there” and can testify that a balloon ride is a one-of-a-kind experience. You can’t help but gain a unique perspective of the immenseness of the Pacific Ocean and sweeping San Diego countryside. Our usual sunny skies and calm morning and evening winds allow you to experience what it’s like to float among the clouds. Hot air balloon companies have sunrise and sunset tours - weather permitting - from Del Mar.

Many describe flying in a hot air balloon as one of the most serene, enjoyable activities they’ve every experienced. Sunny skies and a heavenly sunset allow you to experience what it’s like to float among the clouds. If you’re staying at a hotel in Del Mar, you can experience the views and flights of a lifetime with Panorama Balloon Tours, Skysurfrer Balloon Tours or Magical Adventures. Simply Google them for information.

4. Get The Tan Of A Lifetime

Located just north of Torrey Pines reserve, Del Mar Beach is a beach-lover’s delight, a great spot for families, friends and surfers who enjoy its wide expanse of soft sand. Swimming, loafing, sunning, walking, jogging, surfing, body boarding, boogie boarding and even grunion hunting are just a few of the activities you will enjoy here. In town, the most popular beach is at the end of 15th Street. Crowded year-around with families, couples, friends and surfers, parking can be a problem at 15th Street, and even if you find a space, you must feed the meters. Parking is free on 17th Street if you get there early in the day - during the summer the parking spaces fill early. Lodging and accommodations can be found throughout the area, from cute and intimate Del Mar bed and breakfasts to the more traditional hotels in Del Mar.

5. Pedal Around Town

Bike riding is one of the simplest ways to have fun, enjoy the wonderful Del Mar scenery, especially if you’re staying at a Del Mar B&B or other vacation lodging. With near-perfect weather all year, enjoying the great outdoors is a way of life for most Del Martians who enjoy riding down quiet residential streets along the ocean. Del Mar is full of paths and trails that give cyclists an opportunity to relax, exercise and explore. Any way you cut it, Del Mar is a great place to have fun, get fit, and relax!

Tips for Traveling the World

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

Traveling around the world is great but if not done in the right way, could turn into a horrible experience. There are only a few tips and trick you need to know. Travel isn’t as hard as people think but does require to do some things and make some plans. Here are some tips that will help you in your travels as you make your way around the world.

Rest assured, several tips and strategies have been developed for minimizing the risks of street crimes. One, carry travelers checks rather than cash. Travelers checks can be used like cash in most countries abroad and carry the added benefit of being able to be canceled if stolen and also the fact that they can be cashed by the individual named on the check.

Budgeting is an important part of travel. You’ll have many chances to spend money while you are traveling and if you are not careful, you’ll find you constantly overspend. Make sure you create a tight budget before you go overseas so that you can accurately divide up your money. Otherwise, you run the risk of always spending. It’s easier it is to spend than it is to save!

That being said, being familiar with your surroundings is perhaps the second most important tip to carry with you when traveling abroad. Try to stay in main tourist areas or on busy and well lit and open streets and throughways. If you need to travel into more “local” spots be sure you go during day time and always with people you trust and who can speak the local tongue if you yourself are not able to do so.

Learning the language of the place you are going to visit is also good. This will help you get around easier. If you can say a few phrases you will be able to move around and ask the locals for help. Not everyone might speak English, especially when you get outside the major tourist areas making it really necessary to know some phrases. Moreover, the locals will be really happy and more helpful.

Traveling around the world is not hard. If you follow these tips and advice while you are away, you will find that you have a much easier time while traveling. Keeping an eye on your money, keeping a clear head, and knowing where things are will help go a long way in helping to make your long term trip much better.

5 Activities Every Visitor Should Do When In Cardiff California

Saturday, June 13th, 2009

What is it about Cardiff By The Sea that makes it so different from the other beach communities lining the Pacific Ocean north of San Diego? Well, there’s the ocean, an ecological reserve, a lagoon, fantastic beaches, restaurant row, surf breaks, Cardiff-By-The-Sea bed and breakfasts and never-ending sea breezes. To help you capture the flavor of Cardiff, here are Eight Things You Must Do when visiting Cardiff By The Sea.

1. Go For A Magic Carpet Ride

Look for our $120,000 surfing statue right across Old Historic Highway 101 from the Cardiff Lodge, on the bluffs above Cardiff State Beach. You’re looking for a bronze sculpture of a young surfer dude with his arms stretched out, supposedly riding a wave. The bronze is entitled “Magic Carpet Ride” and the locals have been highly steamed about the statue ever since it was unveiled July, 2008. Local surfers complain that the surfer’s pose does not capture the essence of surfing. Called sissy by some and just too dog-gone feminine by others, surfers have had a field day dressing the statue in pink skirts, stuffed animals, bikini tops, bikini bottoms, lingerie, Fruit-Of-The-Looms and glittering wands. It is one of a kind.

2. Watch The Surfers At Cardiff State Beach

Cardiff State Beach stretches from our bronze surfer sculpture all the way south to Solana Beach with some of the most beautiful coast line in California. The beach is popular with surfers because of the soft sandy bottom and mushy “perfect” waves for long boards. Visitors, photographers and spectators love the views of the surfers from any where along the beach. The nearby bed and breakfasts in Cardiff lodge many visitors who enjoy having lunch at the seaside restaurants while watching the surfers.

3. Take A Hike in an Ecological Reserve

San Elijo Lagoon is one of San Diego County’s largest coastal wetlands. It lies along the Pacific coast between Cardiff-By-The-Sea and Solana Beach, extending inland to the community of Rancho Santa Fe. This mosaic of habitats supports more than 310 species of plants, 21 species of fish, 22 species of reptiles and amphibians, 24 species of mammals and more than 300 species of birds. The new visitor’s center is open to the public seven-days-a-week from 9 am to 5 pm, and is an excellent vantage point from which to explore the Ecological Reserve and its more than seven miles of hiking and jogging trails.

4. Work On Your Tan

Cardiff State Beach is a great beach to have fun. You can watch surfers, work on your tan, read a book, have a picnic, or try your hand at surfing, boogie-boarding or body surfing. Cardiff Beach has been called the Riviera of the West because it has warm water and a sandy beach. You will see people swimming, surfing, bicycling, walking and jogging. These beaches area a great place to stretch and watch sunrise after a night at a Cardiff lodge or bed and breakfast in Cardiff-By-The-Sea.

5. Relax In Your Own Private Hot Tub

The Inn at Moonlight Beach just 2 miles up Historic Highway 101 is a romantic seaside inn located on a hillside above Moonlight Beach. The four guest suites overlook the Pacific Ocean and the quaint beach town of Encinitas and recall a French-European Inn with spotless private baths, wi-fi internet, refrigerator and cable TV. Inquire about the Penthouse Suite with it’s own private balcony and private hot tub with a commanding view of sunsets over the Pacific Ocean.
