Packaged Vacations Are Better

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

The reason why family package vacations became popular was because in the 1960s there was a huge number of people from Britain travelling overseas. Tour operators saw this opportunity and began to combine different services together into a new offering. As a result, a large number of holidays booked nowadays are family packages.

If you are planning to go away as a family, the package holiday is the most cost-effective way of going about this. This article talks about package holidays and how you can score the best deal for your family vacation.

What does a packaged vacation usually contain?

These packages will include everything you need for your time off. Your airplane ride and taxi travel to the accommodation would typically be included in the package. For the duration of your vacation, you’ll usually be able to ask the tour operator any questions you might have about your environment. Through the tour operator, package holiday makers are also able to book excursions and trips and in some cases enjoy nightly entertainment in their hotel or apartments.

Many tour operators offer resorts which are tailored to the needs of the family. There may a day care that the child can stay at so the parents can have some break time as well.

Package holidays vs. other holidays

Packaged vacations offer some advantages over other types of trips. You can easily save money with a package vacation because the tour operators can give you a lower price due to their volume. If you don’t like to worry about the hassle of booking all your things, you don’t have to with a package holiday.

Red Tag Deals

Depending on how flexible you are, there are some bargain family package holiday deals to be had. Many tour operators offer last minute deals, which offer significant savings on the usual cost when booked shortly before departure. These deals are offered by companies to fill up empty spaces on aircraft and in resorts. The only problem with this is that sometimes you won’t know where you’re staying until you get there.

Gay Friendly Places, Cancun

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

Who wouldn’t like Cancun’s lovely white beaches, historical sites, and a nightlife that can’t be beat? This is a great city for gays to visit and provides a lot of places for a gay tourist to go that are in operation solely to entertain gay visitors. No one should go to Cancun without sampling a bit of everything from the rich tradition of the Mayans.

Cancun offers both modern day fun in the busy city and historical, educational benefits in the ancient ruins nearby. Make sure you plan for at least a day to tour the Temple of Kukulcan. The place of prayer is worth seeing, however there is a valid excuse to come soon when one travels when it is Spring or Autumn Equinox.

While the sun moves slowly across the sky, the corner of the pyramid casts a shadow of the great plumed serpent Kukulcan. As day wears on and the sun moves, the shadow does also and the serpent begins to slither slowly down the pyramid side.

This beautiful city on the Yucatan Peninsula in an area referred to as the Mexican Caribbean, had only three residents, caretakers for a coconut plantation, until the building of the city in 1970. Until then, it contained the remnants of the Mayans, natural beauty and of course, coconut trees. Today, you’ll find the magic of the ancient mixed with a modern city whose oldest building came after 1970.

Cancun is appropiate place for those who like water and sun. While all the beaches in Cancun are beautiful, the white sand beaches across from Ruinas del Rey is a mainstay for the gay scene. A gay friendly location, Cancun offers fantastic places to meet a special someone, especially on the sandy, sunny beaches.

If you want to do more than bake under the rays or walk along the shoreline, there are plenty of more physical activities available. You want something different to do at night, enjoy you supper on the bow of a boat.

With all the activities of the day, take a nap after dinner to prepare for the nightlife. Nightlife doesn’t begin until 10:30 and then goes through the night to 5:00 in the morning.

There is a large diversity in the bar scene, but if you are looking to mesh with the gay scene, Karamba is the place to go. There’s entertainment to suite every taste in popular music. Get a seat early, because after midnight, the joint fills up with locals, but the place only holds 450 people.

Picante a gay bar in Cancun, and it is the oldest one in the city. Every night there’s a party here, but on special occasions, such as holidays, fantastic performances and fun costumes spice them up. Go on Thursday for Tequila night and free shots.

You can find a lot of gay friendly hotels and resorts like Hyatt Regency Cancun, Gran Melia Cancun, Presidente InterContinental and The Ritz-Carlton.

Saturday, September 19th, 2009

In ancient years, it was Xel-Ha that was quite important to all the Mayan people. It was where they would all come in order to offer respect to their various Mayan gods by doing rituals and many dances. Of course much has changed since those days.

These days, Xel-Ha is one of the biggest aquariums around and a marvelous snorkeling spot. Most people come here to snorkel because it offers such an amazing experience.

The popular Xel-Ha is a site that is archaeological and you’ll find it in Mexico, located on the Yucatan Peninsula. The area is extremely beautiful in a manner that is just about tropical paradise.

The sea has a lovely color of blue and green, enticing you to dive on in to the beautiful waters. Everyone would want a swim if all of the seas out there had this great look to them.

The city of Cancun is only about seventy five miles away to the south of Xel-Ha. If you want to go to Cancun, you can get there by car, you can take a taxi, or rid the bus. If you are going to take public transportation, the ride to the park is available for free. This way you don’t have to worry about trying to get the park on your own.

Some great water activities are available in Xel-Ha for kids and adults. These seas allow you to have a great time kayaking, or you can try out snorkeling, Sea Trek, Aquaventura, or even Snuba. Of course you don’t just have to stay in the water. A variety of great land activities exist too. You’ll definitely be glad you came to visit as you get around to seeing all the city sites. You’ll enjoy the step back into long ago history when you are visiting Xel-Ha on vacation.

Interested in knowing a bit more about Xel-Ha and it’s past? Well, according to legend the city was first started at a time when the Mayan gods brought together shrewdness, love, and fantasies in order to make this place to bring together the beauty and greatness of nature. Supposedly this is the reason that the entire area is so amazingly beautiful, since it is thousands of years old. While some only think this is a myth, there are others that truly believe that this is true.

To get into this park, you will have to pay some kind of fee. The fees will differ depending on what you do, but they are not too pricey. Kids are cheaper than adults are. It’s definitely worth the price to enjoy the lovely park. With all the great sites available, you’ll be happy to pay to get in.

If you enjoy beauty and you love history, then you definitely will want to take the time to visit Xel-Ha. Make sure you have your camera too. You’ll want to take plenty of pictures to remember the beautiful area by.

The Mayan civilization was well known and a classic example of civilization in Mesoamerica. Chichen Itza means the wells of Itzi since there are two huge wells or cenotes in the area and was the capital during the era of the Mayans. The cenotes was an important water source especially during the dry seasons and the city prospered and grew around it. A devotion to the Sun the temple El Castillo is a reminder of the Toltec influence. This temple was built over a smaller temple. Women’s Travel Tours: Who Goes On These?

Monday, May 11th, 2009

In recent years, the women’s travel niche has become an increasingly popular segment of the travel industry as droves of women flock to tours designed specifically for the ladies. But what kind of person does this, and why is it appealing?

Singles often enjoy traveling in these groups. In the United States, there are actually more single women than married for the first time in history. But single women who want to travel aren’t letting this stand in their way; they pursue their travel plans, husband or no. Many women simply feel safer and more at ease traveling with a group, and have more fun too. Besides, you’d look rather strange bursting into a robust chuckle all alone at a table for one!

Single women. If you’ve ever been the only single woman on a vacation tour with couples, then you know how it feels to be the odd ‘man’ out. Perhaps you don’t want to mingle with Bob from Sheboygan on a cruise for singles. You’re not looking for your other half; you just want to enjoy your vacation.

Married women. A lot of times, couples just don’t have the same ideas about what constitutes a fun vacation. Maybe you dream of Italy, while he is wistfully thinking of a date with…his fishing rod. Not to worry, you can head off to Italy to enjoy Michelangelo’s David, while he fixes his admiring gaze on a halibut.

Divorced women. If you don’t have a husband to join you on your travels, this is no reason to stay home! In fact, the opposite is true. Many times, women find that during their married years they’ve largely gone along with what their husband wanted. Now that they’re single, they finally feel free to do thing they’ve been looking forward to. Here I come, Greek Islands!

Widows. No matter how happy or sad your marriage may have been, you need to move on and make a life of your own. Getting out into the world and enjoying the sights with a group of women is a wonderful way to accomplish this. Sure, you could travel with your niece, but isn’t it strange how relatives often want you to pay for their trip too?

Girlfriend getaways are also popular. You can gather up some good friends to take the ladies’ night concept to the extreme. By vacationing with a group of women friends, you can truly relax, let your hair down, and be yourself. This is a great opportunity for talking about stuff that really matters, or just sharing laughter and fun.

Distant friends. Do you still keep in touch with your old college roommates or meet up every now and then? Or perhaps your sister lives a few states away, but you enjoy some time together from time to time. These types of getaways are ideal for maintaining these important relationships.

Moms and daughters. If you want to see your mom in a different light, there’s nothing like taking a mother daughter trip together. You’ll find that you see an entirely different side of her when she’s not meeting everyone else’s needs at a family gathering. My mom came with me to Costa Rica, and I enjoyed seeing just how adventurous she could be.

The girls. Maybe you see each all the time; you live in the same town, after all. That doesn’t mean you can’t sneak away for a couple of days. Leave the kids and husbands at home while you pamper yourselves with a spa weekend. You’ll come back feeling refreshed, and not only from the hot rock massage!

In reality, a women’s trip has an entirely different feel than a mixed group. You can talk freely with your girlfriends in a totally uncompetitive atmosphere.

Our astute kayaking guide told us that he never has any issues with women’s groups, but couples are a different story. A lot of times they’re arguing the whole time, when they’re supposed to be enjoying the kayaking. What a waste! Maybe you should think about a women’s tour instead!
