Explore Lanzarote In 2011

Thursday, January 20th, 2011

There are many good reasons why you should book a break in Lanzarote this year not least as this small island in the Canaries has already proved a red hot favourite with winter sun seeking tourists across the Christmas and New Year period. But also thanks to its great climate Lanzarote can also be enjoyed at any time of the year.

There are several top-notch locations to stay on the island on account of the fact that holidaymakers have already been visiting the island of Lanzarote for close to fifty years. many of the islands tourists prefer to choose the privacy and luxury of Lanzarote villas more than hotels, probably because they represent outstanding monetary value too with private villas in Costa Teguise starting as low as €400 weekly, and you will find there’s plenty more accommodation options on offer in the other favourite resorts of Puerto del Carmen and the equally delightful Playa Blanca besides. Accommodation Lanzarote apartments is in good supply as there are thousands of well priced Lanzarote villas and apartments available for rent.. Holiday villas in Costa Teguise are likewise popular should you prefer a calmer destination.

In many ways though it doesn’t really matter where visitors stay as they will enjoy good weather whatever their choice of resort thanks to the fact that Lanzarote can be found just 80 miles off the coast of West Africa.

This location helps to generate temperatures that average 25 degrees Celsius all year round, earning the Canaries the epithet of the Fortunate Islands in years gone by, this is also allied with very little rainfall. The only slight climatic issue is the wind which can blow hard from April until August, but this is often a welcome breeze especially on the hottest days of the year.

Either way though Lanzarote boasts much more than just great weather alone. The island is home to some of the most weird and wonderful scenery that has been created by recent volcanic eruptions which have left a legacy of lava fields.

These pristine lava fields are best viewed at the Timanfaya Volcano Park, which is one of the most popular National Parks in Spain and is a must see for any tourist as the landscapes here are lunar like and truly out of this world.

Lanzarote also boasts loads of delightful beaches with some excellent sands to enjoy in the main resorts but to find the most perfect playas its best to hire a car and explore. If you want to find the best beaches these can be found at Arrieta in the north of the island as well as Papagayo at the southern tip. Many locals and regular visitors agree though that the most impressive beach is Famara, which is located on Lanzarote’s wild North West coast.

Exploring The Canary Islands - Which One Is Best?

Tuesday, January 4th, 2011

The Canary Islands are an excellent place to take your next vacation. This small island chain consists of seven Islands with principally three main holiday islands which are Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote. That said the other islands in the group are also well known if not as well travelled. But which island should you head for?

All of the islands have something to offer but if you prefer a more water sport based vacation then Tenerife offers some outstanding Scuba diving locations where even novices are welcomed, and where you’ll experience very memorable dive trips and get the chance to up close and personal with the marine wildlife.

Next on out whistle stop tour is the neighbouring island of Gran Canaria and whilst it may be smaller than it larger contemporary, it can boast the canaries largest city which is Las Palmas home to spectacular carnivals and street parties (known as verbenas del mogollon) in the first two months of the year. Also if you are planning on plenty of nightlife check out Playa del Ingles where it’s party party, party time with a plethora of bars and nightclubs to keep you going all night long.

But whilst both Tenerife and Gran Canaria each have there own charms those in the know head for the island of Lanzarote which sees visitors returning year after year as if lured back by its magical charms.

Each of the resorts on the island has plenty of attractive points and a good choice of accommodation too, Lanzarote villas however are excellent value for many especially in the off peak season.

Puerto del Carmen for example remains a firm favourite and its appeal as a holiday resort is firmly established as a result of its wonderful climate especially for water sport enthusiasts. The town takes full advantage of its location on the eastern coast of Lanzarote where it is fortunate to be sheltered by several volcanoes from the prevailing Atlantic winds.

If you manage to tear yourself away from the main holiday resorts though you’ll find that the island is full of surprises and attractions many of which lie well off the beaten track many of which are not suited to coaches, so visitors are well advised to hire a car and explore what the island has to offer, especially in the north which is still widely regarded as the true heart of Lanzarote.

Have A Relaxing Vacation Playa Blanca Hotel Style

Monday, November 15th, 2010

The economic outlook may still be a little bit gloomy but most of us still like to take an annual vacation of one description or another. So where can you get sun, sea and sand without spending a fortune? Well, in my opinion that’s the Canary Islands , and in particular the magical island of Lanzarote

Lanzarote flights are on offer from all the main carriers so you won’t have to spend a fortune to get here. This means of course that you’ll have more money to spend whilst your here and transfers from Lanzarote airport are easily arranged even if you are flying independently.

The island has great character and one unmissable aspect of the local culture are the works of the islands world famous artist Cesar Manrique. Manrique was in the main responsible for building restrictions in force on the island and he has left an outstanding legacy of unforgettable architecture that has almost been blended into the very fabric of the island itself.

Cycling is a very popular activity in Lanzarote which is hardly surprising given the weather. The island’s mountainous terrain makes it an ideal spot for cyclists looking for some arduous warm weather training conditions. You’ll also pick up a pretty good tan as well but do be careful as when cycling you can forget how hot the sun rays actually are.

self drive car hire is by far the best way to get around and will enable you to see much of the island.

If you are travelling independently then ensure that you book your accommodation in advance to be on the safe side, but even though hundreds of thousands of travellers and amongst them British tourists will be enjoying a holiday break on the island during the course of the upcoming year, and approximately half of these opting to stay in self catering accommodation and apartments there is still ample accommodation to go round. Now comes the real dilemma though. Which resort will be best for me? this will depend on an number of scenarios, is it a family holiday? Do you prefer a villa or an apartment? Or do you want to eat out most nights? Either way each of the resorts has something to offer.

If you have been to the island previously you’ll have a fair idea of where to stay depending on your holiday plans but Playa Blanca does tick an awful lot of boxes for most people.

Hotels in Playa Blanca are not that expensive to stay in (except for the luxury end) so you could have a cooking free holiday if that’s what you want.

Canary Islands Winter Sun - Lanzarote

Thursday, October 28th, 2010

With the days and nights getting shorter and temperature ranges reducing thoughts are starting to turn towards the Xmas holidays, however that does not mean no sunshine until next year as there is still plenty of sunshine to be had on the sun steeped Island of Lanzarote in the Canaries.

Whilst the perfect sunshine record can be alluring to many, Lanzarote has an exhaustive calender of impressive events that will appeal to those looking for the cultural charm that empitomises the island, or those that happen to be keen sports enthusiasts. Also on top of the many year round events , if just lazing on the beach because too much or your getting too much sun, the choice of other attractions to enjoy around the island is quite lengthy

This could include water skiing, horse riding or a visit to some of the islands museums and exhibits. Lanzarote Tourist Attractions

In the event that you may be looking at options for next summers holiday then don’t forget that June is an excellent time to take your vacation as is can be considerably cheaper than the high season and this period is also when the fiesta of Corpus Christ takes place too. As you stroll round the streets you can witness temporary work of art depicting scenes from the bible. What makes these works of art and displays even more unique is the fact they are made using coloured salt.

On the accommodation front, the end of the summer and the winter period sees a lot more availability when it comes to Lanzarote accommodations, but choosing the right accommodation always comes down to three main factors, size of party, location and of course budget. Apartments tend to offer the cheapest accommodation choice but sometimes you could be lucky and get a villa at the same price, most villas also come equipped with private pools, games consoles and satellite TV so can be a real home from home.

Having decided on the type of holiday accommodation you want to book the next question is which resort to stay in? If you are a regular visitor then you probably know already, but if not then you need to decide where to stay. Do you want to taste the true island lifestyle or stick to the main resorts only?. If you fancy a break from the norm you could try a rural villa tucked away in the local countryside or perhaps even something far more bizarre or unique for example a cave.

If Playa Blanca is your choice then you’ll find that this represents excellent value for money thanks to the fact that there is such a large supply of accommodation here for tourists to choose from. For guests who are able to tear themselves way from the pool the resort is home to some spectacular stretches of sand. Such as Playa Dorada, Playa Flamingo and the small town beach of Playa Blanca - from which this destination takes its name.

Enjoy Festivals In Lanzarote

Monday, September 27th, 2010

Although the island of Lanzarote is relatively small, it has a large number of high days and holidays that add to the attraction of visiting this Canarian outpost and many visitors book Puerto del Carmen Villas to coincide with one or other of these fiestas, for example; Dia del Reyes, Carnival and Los Dolores..

The Christmas period is always a busy time on Lanzarote. Demand for accommodation such as holiday villas in Playa Blanca is high. And the locals celebrate Christmas not once but twice. As in Spain children don’t get their hands on their presents until Epiphany on the 5th of January, or Dia del Reyes as it is known locally. When processions take place in the main towns cross the island featuring three kings on camel back, who dispense sweets and presents to the crowds. The best procession takes place in the islands capital of Arrecife and in the main resort of Puerto del Carmen. So you are planning to reserve any one of the Lanzarote holiday villas and apartments then book early to avoid dissapointment.

The movable fiesta of Carnival arrives in late February or early March, depending on Lent. It doesn

How About Tanning in Grand Forks

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

Tanning is a practice that has risen and fallen in terms of trendiness and vogue all through the decades. When people started considering paleness as the sign of being unhealthy, being tan and in the pink of health became the trend. Being tan means you’re out there doing all the things that people do to stay healthy.

But too much sun exposure can lead to skin diseases as a lot of hardcore tanners already know. Cosmetics are the obvious choice in the beginning. Make up made a person look tan, and there are even those you can use all over to hide the paleness of legs and arms. But most people who use tanning products soon realized the disadvantages. Your fake tan could run and ruin your dress.

As soon as it was confirmed that skin cancer is a direct result of sun exposure, people became more and more into tanning indoors. Tanning salons use special lamps that mimic the effect of natural sun without the damaging effects. People understand that receiving sunlight could also improve the production of vitamin D in the body. Tanning salons are a godsend to people who want to get tan without the risks.

If you’re in Grand Forks and you want to get tan, you can find a wide array of tanning salons to choose from. What you need to do is set a criteria for what you want. After all, as soon as you commit to getting a tan, you are at the mercy of the technician as well as the quality of equipment the tanning salon has to offer.

The first thing you need to consider is the skill of the tanning technicians. You should look at their past customers and see for yourself the quality of the service they provide. What you don’t need is a less than perfect tan that could make you look strange. Being burnt by the sun or by a mistake in the tanning salon is the last thing you need.

Lastly, check if their lamps are in good condition. Those lamps could flicker at any time if they’re too old. You don’t want a tanning salon lamp blinking on you while you’re under it. A good lamp spells the difference between a good tan and a bad one.

Visit the following for more information on East Side Beach Tanning Salon. Also, I invite you to check out Lake of the Woods ice fishing.

Lanzarote Two Islands In One

Thursday, September 16th, 2010

Amongst the many other delights that visitors to the island of Lanzarote will enjoy (for those who take the time to explore) is the radical difference between the north and the south of this holiday island.

Villa Holidays in Majorca

Sunday, September 5th, 2010

Mallorca – or Majorca – is the largest of the four Balearic Islands, which are located in the Mediterranean off the southern coast of Spain. And adminstratively fall within the autonomous region of Catalonia. Like the other islands in the group such as Ibiza and Menorca, Mallorca is located around a two and half hour flight from the UK. With flights to the island available with most of the leading budget airlines such as easyJet.

Some thirty years ago areas of the island in the south especially started to earn a reptutation as a slightly downmarket destination. Thanks in no small part to the drunken antics of young and rowdy British holidaymakers in resorts such as Magaluf. Today though that image has long since faded – as VIP visitors and indepdendent travellers are now the norm. With the focus shifting towards the north of the island and in particular the resorts of Pollensa and Alcudia. Which have become very popular with the more discerning visitor.

Many of these tourists prefer Majorca villas to hotels – as they offer much more privacy and luxury. And lots of these properties have been built using locally quarried stone. Which helps to create a very traditional feel – whilst also offering plenty of modern day luxuries. Majorca Villas can be booked locally or through a reputable agent, but to be sure of the best choice book well ahead of time.

The capital city of Mallorca is called Palma and this is where all visitors to the island touch down at Son Sant Joan airport. The capital boasts over 400,000 residents and a host of historic buildings, the best known of which is the famous Le Seu Cathedral. Which was symbolically built on the site of the Moors main mosque on the island. This fascinating structure took many centuries to complete – stretching right into the early 1900s
