Sainte Foy Is The New Up And Coming French Ski Property Destination

One to Watch in 2010 – Hidden Gem of the French Alps Revealed
With France easily at the top of the charts in a recent survey of the top 10 winter ski resort destinations by budget airline easyJet, it is obvious that the British love affair with the French Alps is as strong as ever.

As was probable the high ranking resorts included Chamonix, Avoriaz, Meribel and Les Arcs but according to the French Ski property experts at Experience International, Sainte-Foy-en-Tarentaise, the hidden gem of the French Alps, is the location to keep an eye on in 2010.

Centrally situated in the Tarentaise Valley, home to notable resorts including Val d’Isere, Tignes, Les Arcs, La Plagne and La Rosiere, Sainte-Foy-en-Tarentaise has long been the preserve of experienced guides bringing people over from Val d’Isere which is just ten minutes away to enjoy the famous powder and off-piste skiing in the area. As Experience International’s MD Steven Worboys Stated,

“Sainte Foy is the ideal resort for both beginners & experiences skiers. The traditional Savoyard architecture, stunning scenery and relaxed family atmosphere appeal to real mountain lovers. The attractiveness and number of people seeking to enjoy Sainte Foy is only going to increase in 2010.”

Sainte Foy is proving not only an attractive winter vacation destination but also the ideal 2nd property destination due to its easy access from the UK (under 2 hours drive from Geneva which operates numerous direct budget flights to the UK), all year long attractiveness and cost of property up to half that of nearby areas.

With current concerns over the UK sterling strength investors are being cautious about committing to euro property purchases but as Steven Worboys explains, this should be of minimal concern as long as you invest in the correct development:

“In order to reduce exposure to the current weakness of the Pound investors should look for leaseback properties which require low deposits. The La Chapelle ski-in ski-out apartments for example can be invested in for a low 5% deposit to secure with 95% finance available.”

Well situated leaseback properties in particular are very attractive France investment property options for investors who can secure guaranteed rental returns for 18 years plus, index-linked, as is the case with La Chapelle as well as enjoying flexible personal usage.

Investment in the 4* luxury apartments in Sainte Foy is from as little as €12,000 which includes furniture, parking and purchase costs.

For those wishing to discover the hidden gem of Sainte Foy and other similar French leaseback properties please contact Experience International on + 44 (0) 207 321 5858 or visit www.french-ski-property.co.uk/ to watch the video.

UK Set For Another Good Year For British Tourism

Sunday, March 28th, 2010

Summer is quickly approaching and many families will be in the process of planning their summer holidays. 2009 saw the rise of the ‘staycation’ in the UK with many families choosing to go on more traditional holidays at home rather than abroad. The British tourism industry reported that there was an increase in visitors to UK seaside resorts despite the economic downturn. The ’staycation’ was launched when families stayed at home and started visiting local tourist attractions but before long they started looking for affordable accommodation across the country.

A short weekend break in a nearby city became popular as people opted to stay in hotels and serviced apartments. The majority of these travellers were couples and groups of friends out to enjoy the sights and sounds of big cities such as Bristol. There are lots of places to stay in Bristol like this but those looking for longer family holidays wanted different types of accommodation in a more rural location.

There were a couple of accommodation trends in 2009 that became noticable as it became clear that budget was having an effect on holiday maker’s decisions. A large number of caravan and mobile home owners traveled to campsites in the South of England because it was cheaper. Renting holiday cottages was the trend that appeared among those that had a greater budget to spend on their holiday.

The popularity of holiday cottages in the South of the UK has always been high especially in counties such as Devon, Hampshire and Cornwall which are prime holiday locations. Each of these counties has much to offer any tourist. Cornwall is very well known for it’s beautiful beaches, while the New Forest has some wonderful wildlife and Devon has a mix of both.

Many of the popular holiday cottage rental agents reported that last year cottages in Cornwall saw a dramatic increase in the number of rented properties. Newquay is possibly responsible for this trend as large groups of teenagers visit this area of Cornwall after they have finished their exams. This is likely to be because of the Cornish towns night life and the large amount of activities available like surf schools.

The other more popular destination was the New Forest. It is thought that cottages in the New Forest saw an increase in families visiting the area. This is likely to be down to the wildlife found in the New Forest and the number of healthy activities for children young and old to take part in. The New Forest is also well positioned allowing trips to nearby towns, cities and places of interest. The medieval city of Salisbury is nearby as well as Bournemouth with it’s beautiful beaches.

All the signs are showing that 2010 is likely to be another successful year for the UK tourism industry. The slow improvements in the economy mean that people still don’t have vast amounts of money to spend and with an increase in strikes amongst airline and railway workers many travellers feel uncertain about heading abroad. So once again the ’staycation’ could reign supreme in the UK throughout 2010 but only time will tell.

Treaties Assist In The Protection Of Antarctica

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

Antarctica and all of its emperor penguins, leopard seals, blue whales, and towering mountains have been set aside for protection under international agreements. This coldest and most pristine of the world’s ecosystems has been protected since 1998. Oil drilling is banned for at least 50 years. Conservation is the foremost concern regarding policy in Antarctica.Dogs and pesticides are prohibited by these policies, including other threats to the wildlife.

The agreement in question is titled the Environmental Protection Protocol to the Antarctica Treaty. The nations around the world agreed to leave Antarctica free from commercial and industrial development.Approval was gained in 1991 by the twenty-six leading countries having scientific interests in the area, including the United States, Russia, China, India, Japan, Argentina, Brazil and most of the main European countries. To find antarctica travel adventures information see this resource.

The regulations set forth by this treaty ended over 15 years of lobbying by environmental groups and put as stop to diplomatic talks. The rules banned oil drilling and mining. It requires that the nations who run Antarctica’s 35 scientific research outposts clean out their garbage dumps.Scientific stations and tourist ships are also not allowed to dump an raw sewage in to the Arctic waters.

Sled dogs were how explorers like Norwegian’s Roald Amundsen reached the South Pole in 1911.However, the treaty makes dogs illegal since a few of the scientists’ pets have recently caused the death of penguins and other birds common to the area.In addition, pesticides, polystyrene components, and contaminated dirt cannot be transported to Antarctica.

Since Antarctica’s land is buried under a mile of ice, most kinds of plants are not able to grow there, with the exception of moss and grass, and only close to the ocean. The ice on the continent accounts for 70% of the Earth’s fresh water. It is encircled by a rich web of whales, sea birds, fish and seals. If you want more comprehensive info on adventure antarctica tours that site will help you.

On this earth, Antarctica is considered to be one of the most fragile places.Growth takes place very slowly because of the consistency of the sub zero temperatures. It can take years for the area to recover from any disturbances.Footprints, for example, can take as much as 10 years to disappear.

1959 marked the signing of the initial Antarctic Treaty, and it prohibited military operations and the testing of nuclear devices in the region. It also kept any one nation from owning all of Antarctica and gave rules for research. In spite of the treaty that protects the non-ownership of Antarctica, one country claims to own nearly the entire continent.

When scientists reported the discovery of oil, coal, gold, zinc, iron, uranium, manganese, and copper, among other minerals, environmental organizations started fighting to establish laws to protect Antarctica early in the 1980’s. Discussions about drilling for oil in Antarctica began in the 1970’s during that decade’s energy crisis. The interest in mining and drilling will probably increase as technology advances and oil prices increase.

Rules will be enforced individually since all 26 nations have their own laws. But if someone belonging to a particular nation goes against the treaty, and the government does nothing, the other 25 countries will exert pressure to remedy the issue. The agreement on this continent is believed to be an environmental success story.
