Cuba A World Of Adventure

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

Cuba Beaches with white, grey, black and golden sand contrast with blue or aqua-green seas; the calm water near a mountain peak hides the inner beauty of its seabed. Some of its coasts are on the Caribbean; others, on the Atlantic. In both cases, its shores tempt you to give yourself over to the sensual, magical movement of the waves.

There is an average of 330 sunny days a year, with few clouds. The main tourist resorts (including the ones on the cays) have international airports, and the excellent hotel infrastructure is complemented with a wide range of extra hotel facilities (car and bus rentals, marinas, scuba-diving centers, shops, beauty parlors, fitness centers, etc.), entertainment during the day and at night, excursions to nearby cities, medical attention, and special family and honeymoon Cuba holiday packages.

Lands of legends and myths, thousands of tiny islands enclose a fascinating mini-world in which the conditions have been created for having a daring adventure. Cuba has several marinas or sports ports that offer all of the services you need for having a delightful stay.

The high degree of conservation of its coral formations and beaches attests to its cleanliness. It has a gentle subtropical climate, the product of warm water cooled by The trade winds, so temperatures range between 75.2 and 84.2 F. (24 and 29 C.).

There are places-anonymous as yet or little known-virgin beaches which are not the exception but rather the rule. Large or small, they are waiting to be discovered on the Guanahacabibes Peninsula, a preserve of the biosphere; the coasts in the center and eastern parts of the country; and in tranquil Baracoa, at the eastern extreme of the island. You can enjoy them to the full in complete safety. There’s nothing quite like walking along a beach for hours with nothing to disturb you.

In 1985, the French oceanologist Jacques-Yves Cousteau’s crew was very impressed by Cuba’s seabed-most of all, by their exploration of the Cristobal Colon, a Spanish ship which was sunk during the naval battle that was fought just off Santiago de Cuba in i8g8. According to the divers, who have worked all over the world, few other places are as well preserved or have such a wealth of marine life. His colleagues waxed so enthusiastic that Cousteau, then 75, decided to put on an aqualung and see for himself. He wasn’t disappointed.

Scientific studies estimate that there are over 500 species of fish; 200 different kinds of sponges (cup, tube and branch); around 60 kinds of coral; and a large sample of mollusks, crustaceans, gorgonians, algae and Common Sea Fans (Gorgonia spp.) in Cuban waters.

Cuba undoubtedly is one of the most stunning tourist destinations in the World. Add the irrefutable fact of a super rich culture and you have the perfect formula for an unforgettable holiday.

Hotel Chairs Stools Are Retro Chic

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

If you run or own a hotel, furniture is going to be high up on the list of must-haves. The furniture needs to fill every room in the hotel and one of the most popular items are hotel chairs. The hard part comes when you have to decide which type of chair to buy. These days, its all about stools, and more hoteliers are placing stools in their buildings as they add some modern day chic to proceedings. We’re not talking about saloon style stools, but the contemporary style of stool that acts as more than just a ‘seat’; its style and function all rolled into one.

Simple And Stylish

Stools have seen a new found popularity of late. Despite being once thought of as traditional bar stools, they have now taken on a much more updated and functional approach. They are used in homes for breakfast bar seating and they are also now being seen in hotels, as an integral part of the hotel furniture. Traditional hotel chairs have made way for modern stools and they are great for the bar and bedroom alike. It is true that the simple styling of the stool makes it a popular choice. Another great benefit is that they take up very little space, which is great news for any space-conscious individuals out there. Small hotels will be glad that there are stools available that they can use as they don’t take up much room. These are just some of the reasons why hotels are including stools as part of their hotel chairs purchase.

A good tip is to make sure that different styles of hotel chairs are purchased to ensure every guest has a chair that is most suitable for them. Make your hotel stand out with a wide range of chairs. Since hotels get different age groups staying, different chairs are essential. The teenagers will probably like the stools best. Make an appropriate choice when buying hotel chairs. You can get a standard set of chairs sorted and then consider the stools. Put yourself in the guest’s shoes and then you can decide what furniture looks best and ultimately is the best.

Choosing A Wellness Retreat For Your Vacation

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

Working every day through the year can be quite a drag. So, when it is vacation time make sure you consider a wellness retreat. Not only will you be relaxed and pampered, but you will also likely leave much healthier. A wellness retreat is the perfect vacation for anyone stressed out from day to day life and needs a break from it all.

The term health spa used to apply pretty well to a place where you could go get pampered and enjoy some of the benefits of a healthy regimen. Then, fat farms came into the picture and turned our ideas of a health spa to boot camp for fat people where the diets are restrictive and dull and the exercise routines are punishing. Now, a health spa is more likely to be found in the pricey part of town and it’s a place to get a facial and your nails done. This leaves us with the term wellness retreat when we are talking accommodations that will spoil you and add a healthy routine to your stay.

Wellness retreats are popular all over the world.

Many would rank the Canyon Ranch in Miami Beach, FL as one of the best wellness retreats available. This resort sits ocean-side and includes a 70,000 square foot spa in the middle of very extravagant accommodations. At Canyon Ranch you can have massages, facials, thermal water suites, rock climbing, indoor fitness, and more.

You might pick another wellness retreat for your vacation, like Lilianfels Blue Mountains Resort and Spa in Katoomba, New South Wales, Australia. Located in a gorgeous Australian National Park, you can experience nature walks for therapy and spa treatment based on Aboriginal rituals. You can have your own out-of-body experience perched upon this cliff-top overlook where indulgence surpasses the corporeal.

If you prefer to stay in North America, you might choose Alive Health Resort, for your wellness retreat. Located in Kelowna, British Colombia, Alive Health Resort has a rustic charm that’s hard to deny. It’s cradled in the forests of the Monashee Mountains, with breath taking views and plenty of hiking and outdoor exercise for the back-to-nature type. Once you’ve had your wellness retreat experience here, it will be difficult to return to the bustle and strife of the real world.

If you want to travel to a wellness retreat whose therapies include that of slowing down the aging process, you will be headed to the wine country of Bordeaux, France to Les Sources de Caudelie. You can experience massages and wraps that utilize, of all things, grape extracts. These therapies are said to enhance blood flow by strengthening blood vessels. A similar treatment is available from the inside out, as you are also encouraged to take part in the resort’s wine tasting parties every week.

The resorts listed above are just some of the renowned wellness retreats available. Most of these can get quite expensive. However, there are wellness retreats that can fit most budgets. Make sure you shop around and find that one retreat that is perfect for you and your wallet.

An Antarctica Cruise is An Escapade Like No Other

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

Antarctica is becoming increasingly popular among frequent travelers because of the many interesting features it serves up. A voyage to Antarctica is like none other, with breathtaking scenery, a plethora of wildlife viewing and adventure galore. This article will provide you with some of the activity options available on an Antarctica cruise to help you decide if this vacation is the right one for you.

Miles upon miles of cold marine waters can be seen encompassing Antarctica. Exquisite bergs rise up beautifully everywhere while active wild animals roam about without fear of people. Antarctic summers are sunny but it is during springtime that the most beautiful sunsets can be seen. While many travelers find sightseeing in Antarctica to be one of the best reasons to cruise to this region, there are many other activities to enjoy on an Antarctica cruise as well. antarctica cruise expeditions

An Antarctica cruise often comes with ways to watch available wildlife. With wildlife aplenty there is no danger of running out of animals to see from penguins on land to whales swimming below as you watch safely from the ship deck. There is nothing unusual about finding whales like Orcas and Minkes or Humpbacks in this part of the world so do not be concerned if you find a lot of them while cruising. These majestic creatures are an amazing sight in the icy blue waters that surround Antarctica.

The Antarctica continent is home to a wide range of seals that you might espy during one of your tours on land. Seal types like Crabeater as well as Leopard and Weddell can be found in the area. February to March is the time seals really come out as this is when there are many chicks or baby penguins to feast on. Springtime is likewise perfect for glimpsing huge Orcas and frolicking penguins. If you would like to watch penguin chicks hatch or see whales in great numbers you might want to go there a couple of months before spring starts.

Your days aboard an Antarctica cruise will be filled with all sorts of activities from watching wildlife to enjoying the scenery so it definitely is not a waste of money. There are ships that let passengers go camping and experience the outdoors briefly as part of the excursion package. But be clear that this is different from camping out in behind your house. Be prepared for any weather changes that might happen during the trip by bringing a complete gear. Antarctica camping is a unique experience that people up for its challenges should try. antarctica cruise ship

Another popular activity during an Antarctica cruise is to get off the big ship into a much smaller vessel that will offer you close-ups of the wildlife and the scenery. There are also canoeing along with kayaking to look forward to during the cruise. The job of checking out the landscape and the cold waters is taken care of by a guide who accompanies kayakers. Staff from the ship man smaller boats that take you ashore so you can see whales more completely.

Antarctica waters are also great for underwater swimming and observing the unique flora and fauna of the region. Whether it is in this continent or other water regions the diving is no real hardship. But the sheer weight and specialization of the gear used makes it a must that only seasoned divers swim underwater in Antarctica. A good way to prepare is to get certified and to do that you have to sign up for a dry suit course on diving and to put in enough diving hours ahead of the time to set sail.

Your vacation is not just about the exciting activities within Antarctica but also about the wonderful cruise you are on so do not forget it. You have the choice of resting in fancy accommodations or visiting the fine dining room for a quick bite after a long day of exploring. Antarctica cruise vacations are never short on comfort but they also deliver when it comes to activities available.

How To Get Flights To Tenerife

Sunday, December 27th, 2009

Flying to Tenerife is easy any time of year with wide a selection of low-fare airlines and UK and Ireland airports.

Airports:

Aberdeen Belfast Birmingham Blackpool Bournemouth Bristol Cardiff Cork Doncaster Dublin Durham Tees Edinburgh Exeter Gatwick Glascow Leeds Liverpool Luton Manchester Newcastle Norwich Nottingham Shannon Stansted

Airlines:

British Airways Jet2 Monarch Scheduled Aerlingus Ryanair Thomsonfly Flyglobespan

Flights to Tenerife are very reasonable, currently staring at around-8. The largest of the Canary Islands, Tenerife is a popular destination among UK travelers. Tenerife generally has two busy seasons. The first is during the winter when it experiences an influx of older tourists escaping winter’s chill. The second extends from May to October, with families and college students on holiday.

The world-famous Tenerife Carnival is held in February in Santa Cruz. Held in the two weeks before Lent, Tenerife Carnival rivals Rio for size and grandeur. The party culminates with a parade and the Burial of the Sardine, in which a huge model sardine is carried through the streets, followed by mourners, and eventually burned.

You will likely find the best deals in the off-season. The climate is fairly constant, so you’ll still be able to enjoy the beaches and attractions in less-crowded conditions.

There are two airports on Tenerife. Most traffic comes into Tenerife South Reina Sofia Airport (TFS), which also offers more than 100 connecting flights to additional destinations. Tenerife North handles inter-island flights for island hoppers. You can also take the ferry to explore the other Canary Islands.

The Canary Islands are known as the Islands of Eternal Springtime for a reason. There is little difference between summer and winter temperatures with winter temperatures bottoming out at-C. Summer months are balmy but comfortable. But, as an illustration of this island’s contrasts, the average annual temperature at the inland the Teide National Park is only 9C.

As you would expect, Tenerife offers white, sandy beaches and a lively night life. Beyond the usual tourist attractions, visitors find vast natural beauty and splendid landscapes. The snow-capped Mount Teide rises from the center of the island, providing its breathtaking backdrop. In the north, you’ll find a variety of wildlife and their habitats, ranging form rugged rocky coves to lush greenery. Farther south, the beaches stretch in the sun - home to resorts like Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos.

Tenerife’s capital city, Santa Cruz, offers tax-free shopping for bargain hunters. The Mercado de Nuestra Senora de Africa, an Artistic Historical Monument, has galleries of merchants of all varieties surrounding a central courtyard and clock tower. One of Spain’s largest ports, this cosmopolitan city also offers parks and historical theaters.

Cable rides to the top of Mount Tiede, one of the world’s largest volcanoes, will offer spectacular views from the highest point in the Atlantic Ocean.

For children of all ages, the Monkey Zoo is a must. Located in Los Cristianos, most of the animal cages are open for visitors to walk into. You can buy food for the animals at the entrance, so you are guaranteed an up-close experience with a variety of animals including ring-tailed lemurs and iguanas.

Antarctica Cruise - The Many Ways You Can Have Fun

Saturday, December 26th, 2009

Experienced travelers now favor going to Antarctica because it has lots to offer in terms of fun adventures. A host of adventures and wildlife as well as sights to take in while cruising Antarctica. This piece gives you a rundown of activities available while on an Antarctica cruise to make deciding whether it is for you easier.

There is ice-cold blue water as far as the eye can see in the area of the world called Antarctica. Impressive icebergs are scattered everywhere together with active wildlife. Stunning sunsets can be witnessed in the spring in Antarctica while the summer months have the sun beating down on the continent all hours of the day. There are other reasons besides sightseeing to go to Antarctica and take an Antarctica cruise.

Another popular pastime aboard an Antarctica cruise is watching the wild animals roaming around. There is abundant wildlife in the area so you can choose between observing animals like whales from a distance while on deck or get a closer look at other creatures including penguins by going on land. Seeing Orcas and other whales like Minkes and Humpbacks are nothing out of the ordinary in this area so you are bound to see them clearly while aboard the ship. The waters of Antarctica would not be as captivating without these wonderfully superb sea creations.

Some seals have made their home in Antarctica and you will probably see most of them while exploring the land. Seal types like Crabeater as well as Leopard and Weddell can be found in the area. February to March is the time seals really come out as this is when there are many chicks or baby penguins to feast on. It is also nice to view Orcas and frolicking penguin chicks during spring. Visiting the place a couple of months sooner might even let you catch baby penguins hatching or see whales in the largest numbers.

Taking in the scenery and viewing the wildlife are definitely worth the cost of your Antarctica cruise, there are other activities to enjoy as well. There are ships that let passengers go camping and experience the outdoors briefly as part of the excursion package. Keep in mind that this isn’t exactly camping in your backyard. For an enjoyable trip you need to be ready for whatever climes mother nature throws your way. For those that are ready for the experience, camping in Antarctic is like nothing you have ever experienced before.

An Antarctica cruise also usually offers another activity involving disembarking the liner and riding a smaller boat to view scenery and wildlife up-close. These cruise vacations also count riding kayaks and canoes among the popular activities offered. Kayak groups usually go out with a guide to check out the scenery and icy waters. Smaller water crafts manned by ship personnel are on hand to bring you to land so you can view whales more clearly.

People can also engage in Antarctica scuba diving to acquaint themselves with what the continent holds underneath its cold surface. Going underwater in this water region is not that hard compared to other waters. Equipment for diving into cold Antarctica waters is heavy and often proves too much for newbie divers to handle so only those with the experience get to dive. Before you set sail you can start preparing by obtaining your certification at a dry suit dive school and getting in the appropriate hours of diving.

There are might be lots of fun things to do in Antarctica but keep in mind that you are also aboard a great cruise ship. Each day of your trip is capped off with a nice fancy dinner and excellent lodging quarters. With an Antarctica cruise people get the pleasure of a relaxing cruise vacation while getting a taste of different pastimes.

Ronky The Monster Of Lake Ronkonkoma New York

[I:http://expataccess.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/LJJames1.jpg]

It was a Sunday in Summer of 2009 went I first saw Ronky with my own eyes. I had heard stories of Ronky here and there, They had come to me in Whispers really. The History of Ronky has been a well kept secret for Hundreds maybe Thousands of years. I had spent weeks watching this lake in Lake Ronkonkoma on Long Island in New York State. This day I was driving around going past one of the many Parks and Beaches around the lake. While I was going North on Lake Shore Road I saw something in the water out of the corner of my eye, but after weeks of watching this lake I thought it was just someone out on another blow up raft and didn’t really think much of it !

As I was passing the Dinning Hall “Windows on the Lake” there is an opening where Guests can get a good look at the lake. I looked over and I saw what I had though to be a raft a few seconds before was the creature. I though to myself this could just be another hoax! After years of searches and hunts leading to nothing but dead ends I was not going to get my hopes up to fast. I slowed down and watched as the Creature swam around the lake enjoying itself! I was a little scared but at the same time I could not stop myself from smiling thinking this was really it!

I drove around the lake following along with “Ronky” at some point I pulled into a parking lot and walked onto one of the beaches. I slowly got my Camera out fearing as soon as I went to take the picture the creature would disappear. I snapped a shot, checked it in the review mode of the Camera and I could not believe I had captured a perfect shot of the Creature that no one could dispute the authenticity of ! When I looked back at the Lake Ronky was gone.

Over the next few days I carefully started asking the locals in the area if they had ever seen something weird in the Lake? It seems that to everyone in Lake Ronkonkoma Ronky is well known. He is not a myth or urban legend here. He is just another Member of the Village! I have been told there are two Differences between Nessie in Scotland’s Loch ness and Ronky in New York’s Lake Ronkonkoma. One Ronky is real and Two Ronky is protected by the Locals and his name is not defiled for tourist money.

There are many stories of Ronky that go back Hundreds of years. The one I found most interesting was a story that happened about 15 years ago. It seems there was an expedition sent to look into and map the depths and some underwater streams under Lake Ronkonkoma. This expedition never happened. The Official Story given was the expedition ran out of Money and was going to come back when they got more funds. I was told by an old time resident that wishes her Identity to remain a secret that the real story is a group called the “Keepers of the Lake” told the expiation in no uncertain terms it would be in their best interested for them to leave and not come back!!!

The people of Lake Ronkonkoma have kept this Monster Ronky loved and Protected for many years! I respect and sympathize with them, but I have spent my adult life and most of my families fortune searching for a creature like Ronky. This is my job and I must share this with the world. I have received many threats not to print this story! I have posted it here to go out to these newsgroups if I do not reset the settings at least once a week. If you are reading this there is a good chance something has happen to me. Please do not let what I have spent my life hunting for go unheard of ! Ronky is there in that Lake!
