This Summer Book Really Cheap Airfares And Luxury Cruises

Friday, May 15th, 2009

This year may be the best time in ages to take a well deserved vacation because the travel industry is having financial difficulties in these tough economic times. You now can find incredibly cheap airfares and last minute flights, exclusive hotels and cheap hotels, family resorts and all inclusive resorts, as well as discount cruises and last minute cruises on the web, or at your local travel agency. It stands to reason that if any airplane, hotel, resort, or cruise ship is not fully booked, that represents a significant loss of income that can not be recouped, so this is your time to grab the best possible travel deals in years.

When you search for holiday air flights on the internet you should first look at sites that have ticket price listings for multiple airlines. That way you can compare airfare prices side by side. If you search for air consolidators youll find that they have secured blocks of discount airline fares from a number of airlines. One of the well-known major discount airlines you should also look up is Southwest Airlines which is not usually included in the air consolidator or multiple commercial airline websites.

If you plan to travel to Europe there are many European airlines that offer incredibly low fares, some as low as $60 U.S., when you fly between countries within Europe. Ryanair is the top low cost airline in Europe. It flies to and from the United States as well.

Luxury resorts, choice hotels, and all inclusive resorts are now offering incredible bargains as they attempt to maintain full occupancy. You can search for the words, hotels, or hotel finder to locate multiple discount hotel rates on the web. The same applies to resorts. If you want to take your pet on vacation too, just search pet friendly hotels.

Another great source for reasonable accommodations are vacation rentals. These can include home owners who own recreational property such as holiday homes, cottages, or condos and now need to rent them because of the slow economy. There are also beach vacation rentals available at substantial discounts.

Luxury cruises at really great discounts abound. One of the major advantages that Americans have is that the cruise lines are increasing their presence by adding a few more ports and increasing some sailings on both the East and West coasts of the United States. Cruise tours are generally comprised of both a cruise and land tour. You can opt for taking the cruise first to a destination port and then continue with the land portion of the tour. Or, vice versa. You can take the land excursion first and then board your ship for the luxury cruise.

If this is your first cruise, or youre not exactly sure what you want in cruises, it may be to your advantage to deal with travel agencies that specialize in cheap cruises like cruise consolidators, by searching that phrase, or booking with a local travel agency that has extensive experience in booking cruises.

Cruises are more complicated then booking a cheap flight or a cheap hotel room because there are a number of options which can be confusing to many first time cruisers. Some items to consider are the choice of state rooms (inside, ocean view, or balcony), deck location of the state rooms, and dinner sitting options except on the ships that have anytime dining, etc. Keep in mind that it doesnt matter if you decide on the least expensive accommodation, you are entitled to use all the standard amenities on the cruise ship. All quoted prices are normally based on double occupancy. Make sure that youre aware of the total cost of your cruise including all government fees and port charges.

When booking any holiday travel deals or vacation travel packages, it is always best to pay by credit card. That way you have a record of all your trip transactions just in case a dispute arises with a bill, or a travel supplier runs into some financial difficulty. Its highly unlikely the latter would happen, but if it does you will have a better chance of getting rebooked or reimbursed.

Fishing Basic Supplies Guidelines

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

Going out fishing is fun and one that enables you to relax. There are people who want to experience fishing, but cannot afford all the gear needed for their adventure. Though there are a lot fishing stores, many will try to sell unnecessary fishing gear to gain more from the innocence of the fishing novice. This is a list of the most basic things you’ll want to purchase for any kind of fishing no matter where you go.

Hooks - These come in a variety different types, forms, and shapes with the vast majority shaped as if they were the letter J and are imperative parts of your fishing gear. Hooks are cheap so you could easily purchase a library of different hooks for many different types of fishing.

Rigs - Rigs are commonly employed for the catching of different types as well as species of different fish the most common are the Bobber and the Crappie. Bobbers work well for Bluegill fishing making them perfect for novices.

Sinkers - Just as the name implies this gear is used to cast light lures to bring the bait down to the bottom of the water where the fish are located. Together with the bobbers, the purpose of sinkers is to hold your line at any given point. In all tackle-stores you will find many different types and brand of sinkers that are available in many sizes, and shapes. The current speed and how deep the water is will assist you in determining the weight of the sinkers you’ll need for your adventure.

Bobber - Also known as a cork or a float. The purpose of the bobber is to let you know when a fish bites your bait with the most commonly used bobbers is the pencil, and slip. They are provided in a multitude of sizes so that they’ll suit many types of bait and sinkers the best ones though are the ones smaller ones. The wind would return the bobber back to you if it were light and would spook the fish if it were larger than necessary.

Swivels - This kind of fishing equipment is brought out if you are fishing using bait a spinner or minnow. Baits like this tend to twist and turn, which would probably leave your line deformed but by using the swivel and attaching it twixt the line and bait it would allow the lure to spin around and keep the line from becoming tangled. Swivels are affordable and come in different sizes to work best with the bait and hooks you have.

Other supplies you’ll want to invest in ares are the tackle box and your bait, which varies depending on the type of fishing you wish to perform. Now that you’ve been educated some fishing basics you could easily have an enjoyable fishing trip which is affordable and is safe.

O. Cruise

Alaska Amongst the top spots in Alaska, the Inside Passage, the Glaciers and the Bering Sea are the ones which contain hidden treasures such as massive glaciers, waterways, Eskimo settlements near the Gulf of Alaska and the Aleutian Islands respectively. On board activities to warm you up are always available in the cruises.

New England and Canada. Depending on the traveller preferences, cruises can include Ireland, Iceland and Maritime Canada. The usual destinations are Montreal, Nova Scotia, Quebec and New England. Fully equipped cruises with a wide variety of facilities cruise these waters so that holidaymakers can enjoy before getting to the ports.

Hawaii. With two basic alternatives, Hawaii is one not to be missed. Start from Honolulu, go around the other Polynesian islands and get back to the most populated island takes around seven days. Other choices would leave from Vancouver, San Diego or LA. The longest cruise would take almost two weeks from mainland, taking few of those days to get to Hawaii. Visit the big Island and look at the volcanic formations, enjoy luxurious Oahu and Maui full of resorts and beautiful beaches.

The Bahamas. With around seven hundred islands to visit, the Bahamas region is one of the most favourite destinations for tourists. Do not miss the chance to visit the Grand Island or do some shopping in the Freeport Harbour. Spectacular sandy beaches where one can enjoy water sports and other marine related activities, and luxurious hotels and villas to have the time of the life.

Caribbean. Most cruises leave from Miami and take around seven days, though there is a large variety of other US ports one can take a cruise from. This popular zone is divided into three areas, Western Caribbean including Mexico and the Yucatan Peninsula, South Florida and the Keys, Jamaica and Grand Cayman. The Eastern Caribbean compromise Puerto Rico, Leeward and the Virgin islands. And finally the Southern Caribbean which covers Martinique, St Lucia, Dominica and Grenadines also passing by Trinidad and Tobago, Aruba and Curacao.

Finding The Cheapest Flights Online

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

There are a few tips to keep in mind when looking for the cheapest flights. The internet is a great tool that can provide you a lot of information in moments. However when shopping around you need to remember to be flexible.

This can be difficult depending on your work. Instead of getting locked into a rigid vacation schedule you can ask your boss if you can be flexible with your vacation time. You will need to bring this up far in advance to when you are interested in taking vacation.

Much of this flexibility will depend on the days that you can travel as off days such as Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will have lower ticket prices then travelling on a Sunday or Friday. When searching for flights you should look over a range of days.

Your time of departure will also affect the price of your ticket. The least expensive airfare will always be for red eye flights while leaving first thing in the morning or in the early evening will have some of the most expensive airfare. If you can be flexible about when you leave you can find some great deals on airfare.

Where you fly from and to can also affect the ticket price. Many times flying from a large airport hub will be less expensive then a smaller regional airport. You do need to be careful as this is not true of all areas.

There are a few spots where flying from regional airports is less expensive then flying to large cities and airport hubs. You should shop around to find the best ticket price from any airport in your area.

Cheap airfares can also be found for off season travel. The airfare and accommodation will be much less if you go to the Caribbean in the fall or spring, versus the winter when everyone wants to visit a warm climate.

If you travel a lot then you should join a frequent flyer club as you can get many discounts and earn points that can be used for airline fares.

8 Ways To Make A Yacht Charter Vacation More Affordable

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

We’re all trying to cut costs these days, and “staycations” have become all the rage. But sometimes you need to get away from it all and just relax and rejuvenate. A yacht charter may sound like an extravagant vacation that only a privileged few can afford. But it doesn’t have to cost a fortune - it can actually be less expensive than spending a week at a hotel.

Below are 8 money-saving tips to help make your dream vacation happen:

1. Travel with friends. Getting a bunch of people together to share the costs is always a great strategy for keeping expenses down, whether you rent a villa or charter a yacht. I recently found a luxury catamaran (bareboat) in the Seychelles that sleeps 12 for $4,825/week - that’s $402/person!

2. Discounts and rebates. Thanks to the current economic situation, many charter companies and boat owners have lowered their rates, and new discounts are being offered all the time. To stay on top of the latest deals, sign up for newsletters and email alerts from yachting magazines, charter companies and yachting websites.

3. Try to negotiate the price. It doesn’t hurt to ask, and most boat owners and charter companies would rather rent their boat out for a reduced rate than not at all. Don’t forget to ask about extra or hidden costs (such as insurance, fuel, mooring fees) - are they negotiable as well?

4. Getting to your destination. If you’re chartering through a company, ask them if they offer airfare discounts. Many of the larger charter companies can negotiate lower prices on airlines flying to their charter base than what you are able to find online.

5. Last minute deals. If you’re able to travel on short notice, look for last minute charters. Booking a yacht only 30 days in advance can save you 25% or more. To make sure you hear about the latest deals available, sign up for newsletters from charter companies, and also set up a few Google alerts.

6. Go slightly off-season when the weather is still nice but the crowds are lighter and there are more deals available. Late September/early October in the Mediterranean and April-June in the Caribbean are good times to go.

7. Early boarding. Typically, you arrive at the charter base the night before the charter start date and have to spend the first night in a hotel. Ask if you can get “early boarding” or “evening boarding”. There might be a small fee for it, but it’ll be less than a hotel room, plus you save yourself the inconvenience of having to unpack and pack things twice.

8. If you own a boat yourself, check out “boat swapping”. This fairly new way of vacationing is like a home exchange but with boats - a great affordable way to see faraway oceans while not spending a fortune. If you don’t own a boat but are an experienced sailor (you’ll need documents to prove it), see if you can swap your home for someone’s boat.

Women’s Travel Tours: Who Goes On These?

Monday, May 11th, 2009

In recent years, the women’s travel niche has become an increasingly popular segment of the travel industry as droves of women flock to tours designed specifically for the ladies. But what kind of person does this, and why is it appealing?

Singles often enjoy traveling in these groups. In the United States, there are actually more single women than married for the first time in history. But single women who want to travel aren’t letting this stand in their way; they pursue their travel plans, husband or no. Many women simply feel safer and more at ease traveling with a group, and have more fun too. Besides, you’d look rather strange bursting into a robust chuckle all alone at a table for one!

Single women. If you’ve ever been the only single woman on a vacation tour with couples, then you know how it feels to be the odd ‘man’ out. Perhaps you don’t want to mingle with Bob from Sheboygan on a cruise for singles. You’re not looking for your other half; you just want to enjoy your vacation.

Married women. A lot of times, couples just don’t have the same ideas about what constitutes a fun vacation. Maybe you dream of Italy, while he is wistfully thinking of a date with…his fishing rod. Not to worry, you can head off to Italy to enjoy Michelangelo’s David, while he fixes his admiring gaze on a halibut.

Divorced women. If you don’t have a husband to join you on your travels, this is no reason to stay home! In fact, the opposite is true. Many times, women find that during their married years they’ve largely gone along with what their husband wanted. Now that they’re single, they finally feel free to do thing they’ve been looking forward to. Here I come, Greek Islands!

Widows. No matter how happy or sad your marriage may have been, you need to move on and make a life of your own. Getting out into the world and enjoying the sights with a group of women is a wonderful way to accomplish this. Sure, you could travel with your niece, but isn’t it strange how relatives often want you to pay for their trip too?

Girlfriend getaways are also popular. You can gather up some good friends to take the ladies’ night concept to the extreme. By vacationing with a group of women friends, you can truly relax, let your hair down, and be yourself. This is a great opportunity for talking about stuff that really matters, or just sharing laughter and fun.

Distant friends. Do you still keep in touch with your old college roommates or meet up every now and then? Or perhaps your sister lives a few states away, but you enjoy some time together from time to time. These types of getaways are ideal for maintaining these important relationships.

Moms and daughters. If you want to see your mom in a different light, there’s nothing like taking a mother daughter trip together. You’ll find that you see an entirely different side of her when she’s not meeting everyone else’s needs at a family gathering. My mom came with me to Costa Rica, and I enjoyed seeing just how adventurous she could be.

The girls. Maybe you see each all the time; you live in the same town, after all. That doesn’t mean you can’t sneak away for a couple of days. Leave the kids and husbands at home while you pamper yourselves with a spa weekend. You’ll come back feeling refreshed, and not only from the hot rock massage!

In reality, a women’s trip has an entirely different feel than a mixed group. You can talk freely with your girlfriends in a totally uncompetitive atmosphere.

Our astute kayaking guide told us that he never has any issues with women’s groups, but couples are a different story. A lot of times they’re arguing the whole time, when they’re supposed to be enjoying the kayaking. What a waste! Maybe you should think about a women’s tour instead!

A Cruise Ship Review Of The New 2006 Cruise Line Offerings For Your Cruise Vacation

Sunday, May 10th, 2009
Cruises
Mary Hanna

If you are a veteran cruiser or just curious about cruising, the year 2006 will be introducing many new cruise ships for you to consider when planning a cruise vacation. Call your travel agent and ask about the cruise lines and their new cruise ships and then book a cruise vacation. Here is a cruise review of the new cruise line additions.

Holland America is introducing the Noordam. This new cruise ship was launched on February 22 and has been getting very good cruise reviews. It will be the last cruise ship of Holland America’s Vista-class series.

However, it is the first to be designed for the cruise line’s “Signature of Excellence program.”

The Noordam can accommodate 1,848 passengers. For this new cruise ship, there have been some design changes to enhance the cruise vacation. The new designs were focused mainly on the public areas and staterooms, the meeting point of many cruise travelers.

They have made additions to the very popular Explorations Cafe. As veteran cruise travelers are well aware, it is a coffee bar/Internet cafe, game room, and library.

NCL America’s Pride of Hawaii is the newest cruise ship for 2006 by NCL America. It is the sister vessel of the Norwegian Jewel and offers an excellent cruise vacation.

For the cruise line, Pride of Hawaii marks the first new build from the hull up.

It launched was in June. This cruise ship will accommodate 2,224 passengers. It will be another cruise ship in NCL America’s “Freestyle Cruising” concept being offered for your cruise vacation.

The Pride of Hawaii’s interior decor will be, of course, Hawaiian.

This cruise ship will be departing weekly on Mondays for your cruise vacation and travel the islands, calling Honolulu home.

In December the Norwegian Pearl is set to sail in the Caribbean in the winter months and Alaska in the summer months for your cruise vacations. One of their innovations is the Bar Central concept. It features a martini bar, a champagne bar, wine bar, and a beer and whiskey pub all connected.

The Royal Caribbean’s Freedom of the Seas was launched in May in time for summer cruise vacations. Cruise reviews call it the most innovative cruise ship for RCCL so far.

This 158,000-ton cruise ship has a capacity of 3,600 passengers. It will actually be 10,000 tons larger than Cunard’s Queen Mary 2. It will be the largest cruise ship to be built so far.

The Freedom of the Seas has an added feature that other cruise ships do not. It actually has a place to surf on the top cruise deck. This is a new and unique amenity for RCCL’s Freedom of the Seas cruise ship. Other cruise lines have virtual golf or movies under the stars but no one has a surf park. The cruise line has built the largest rock climbing wall ever.

Following its launching, the Freedom of the Seas will sail seven-day cruise vacations to the Caribbean from Miami.

The Crown Princess, Princess Cruises christened in June. The Crown Princess is expected to accommodate 3,110 cruise travel passengers with 1200 crew.

Princess Cruises lines redesigned the Skywalker’s Disco, which gained popularity from cruise passengers on their cruise vacations. They also have the Lotus Spa which has been expanded on the Crown Princess.

New pastries and snacks will adorn the International Cafe. Crown Princess will have the first ever wine and seafood bar of the entire cruise line.

Expansions were made to other popular features like the Wheelhouse Bar, Sabatini’s Trattoria, and the Sterling Steakhouse.

Crown Princess cruise vacations will sail roundtrip from the Red Hook terminal in New York. This cruise vacation will make stops in the Eastern Caribbean, Bermuda and Turks and Caicos.

MSC will launched their new cruise ship MSC Musica on July 01. Musica is an Italian ship that will bring MSC into the ranks of big cruise ships. It is expected to accommodate 2,550 passengers.

One of its outstanding features will be that a full 80% of its 1,275 staterooms will be outside rooms. In addition, 65% of these staterooms will have verandas.

It will also feature a large spa area. The Musica’s cruise passengers will also have several dining options. They will enjoy a three deck high waterfall and many different entertainment venues.

Musica will sail the eastern Mediterranean from Venice.

The Costa Cruises’ new ship the Costa Concordia is owned by Carnival Corporation based in Miami, while Costa cruise lines is based in Italy.

This will be the largest cruise ship to join the Costa Cruises’ fleet. It will be launched late this year on July 14. It is expected to accommodate 3,000 passengers.

The Costa Concordia will have an European theme for its interior decor. All the room’s names will be European inspired. They will have the Grand Bar Berlin, Cafeteria Helsinki, and the Milan and Rome dining rooms.

A unique amenity to the Costa Concordia is a Formula 1 driving simulator for cruise passengers to enjoy on their cruise vacation.

This new cruise ship will sail year round in the Western Mediterranean. For those taking their cruise vacation on this ship, they will make ports of call in Spain, France, Italy, Gibraltar, and Malta.

So much to choose from! Check out other cruise reviews of these new cruise ships to find out on which cruise ship you will spend your 2006 cruise vacation.

Happy Cruising!
